Equine Nutrition Consultation

Equine Nutrition Consultation – How Can It Help?

An equine nutrition consultation can help address a wide range of issues and is important for every horse, whether kept as a companion, a leisure horse, or a competition horse. A consultation can assist with the following:

  • General health – supports tissue and cell regeneration, immune function, promotes healthy skin and a glossy coat, and helps maintain optimal health and overall wellbeing.
  • Growth and reproduction – supports fertility in stallions and mares, assists pregnant and lactating mares, and promotes healthy development in young, growing horses.
  • Senior horses – helps maintain condition throughout the year and provides alternative feeds and forage for horses with reduced chewing ability.
  • Performance – sports nutrition aimed at improving optimal performance, reducing the risk of injury, and supporting recovery periods.

Zsófia provides advice on practical feeding management and feeding systems that are closely aligned with horses' natural needs, supporting both their physical health and behavioural wellbeing.

Clinical Nutrition and Diet-Related Disorders

Many equine health issues originate from feeding practices. Clinical nutrition can help manage a wide range of conditions, prevent their occurrence, and provide an appropriate dietary plan tailored to the individual horse. Clinical nutrition may assist in the management of the following conditions:

  • Feed-related stereotypies, such as crib-biting and windsucking
  • Obesity / Insulin Resistance (IR) / Laminitis / Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) / Cushing's disease (PPID)
  • Feeding underweight, malnourished and sick horses
  • Colic / Gastric ulcers / Choke / Diarrhoea
  • Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy (PSSM) / Azoturia (tying-up)
  • Skin, coat and hoof problems
  • Nutrient deficiencies / Allergies
  • Respiratory disease / Liver and kidney disease
  • Feeding horses at rest or in recovery

Nutrition can provide support in many different ways. Please contact Zsófia to discuss any dietary issues relating to your horse. Your horse's nutritional needs are extremely important, and ensuring the correct balance of nutrients is essential for maintaining its health and wellbeing.
